The following site, for Stauffer's, of York, PA, seems to claim to have
a recipe that dates to 1871.  Although the recipe may date to 1871, they
do not explicitly say that the item was called a Snickerdoodle in 1871.
Company was originally Stauffer Biscuit Company, and they started baking
in 1871.
