monophthong "aw"

I'm interested in finding out whether a monophthongal variant of the /aw/
vowel has been described anywhere else in the US besides in the Pittsburgh
area (Southwestern Pennsylvania).  I'm referring to pronounciations like
"dahntahn" for "downtown" or "aht" for "out."

Please reply directly to me.   I'll post a summary to the list.
