Never heard it, but at a (wholly speculative?? and/or supererogatorily
obvious??) venture: Perhaps the image is intended as a humorous evocation of
the "friction" involved in its use -- i.e., like the well-known act of
striking a match on paper to which scratchy material has been glued.
