Friday foolishness: foreign words

A friend from Venezuela once commented that, when she first moved to the
States, it seemed strange that so many stores were full of large signs
telling customers to "GET OUT" ("SALE"), not to mention the signs in
places such as parking lots seemingly declaring that someone was in a
trance ("ENTRANCE"). (There was no actual misunderstanding, of course.)
