Query: Pejoratives for Liberals

This message came into the ADS web site today. Although it's a bit
provocative, I think we can probably answer it with humor, Nexis and one of
Barry's 100-year in-depth looks at microfilm. In order to spare the sender
what I hope to be a deluge of responses, I've left the email address off. If
you want it, let me know.

At first I thought the message was a mistake, but I'm pretty sure he's
talking about the Word of the Year vote and the politics of ADS members.

Is it an absolute requirement that members must be radical left,
limousine liberal types?

This was evident in the ADLS (Liberal) selection in euphemisms where
compassionate conservative won out over other selctions, none critical of
the looney left. This is an honest inquiry. Is there a capable, unbigoted,
tolerant, competent answer for this omission?

Isn't it distressing that when a subject shows promise, petty, unilateral
snide opinions always work thier influential way in in snobbish, underhand,
snickering manner?

Thought you would. This was not written by a conservative, but by someone
who has seen much compassion from both the right and the left, some more
sincere than others, and none of them snickering sophomores full of notions.
