New from the styling industry this summer: hair that looks like you just stepped out of a ... wet suit.
Hairsprays made of actual saltwater--and in one case, algae and kelp extracts--are cropping up in salons and drugstores, promising to give users "beach hair." It's the type of sticky, wrecked look that stylists used to advise customers to rinse out the minute they hit the bathhouse. But when Estee Lauder Cos.' Bumble and Bumble brand launched its $18-bottle Surf Spray last August, some salons had customers on waiting lists. Now it's among the brand's best-selling products, and other hairspray makers have developed their own saltwater-enhanced brands.
