MALTESE CROSS

Is this gymnastic maneuver not in the revised OED?
   From PIC, 10 January 1939, pg. 39, col. 1:

_Maltese cross._ Most Herculean of all moves illustrated by Turturro.

(A gymnast hangs by two rings, like a cross--ed.)
<<<<

I believe I've heard this called an "iron cross" in more recent Olympic
(and other) gymnastic coverage-- not a term that would have been popular in
English in the years following 1939.
