Oops!
Sorry for any confusion I caused, but... my statement of "He claims that it came from the WWF" was NOT intended to be an etymology.  I meant that, for HIM, it came from the WWF.  That's where he heard it.  Not an etymology at all, just a usage example (and a pretty good one given the popularity of the WWF).

I guess calling my own post "spanish" was performative voodoo.
