It's Joseph pull-it-sir, but the PEW-lits-ur/PUH-lutz-ur prize, just as it's
Andrew Car-NEG-ghee, but CAR-nuh-ghee Hall. Or even, Mr. F.D. Roz-veldt, but
President Row-zuh-veldt.
The name of the eponymous institution does not necessarily have to follow
the rule that the way you pronounce your name is always correct. These
pronunciation changes from the person to the institution give evidence of
how written AmE is translated into spoken AmE in the heads of the majority
native-speakers.
