Anthony Cave Brown _Bodyguard of Lies_ page 523 tells of an Allied spy
operation that took place in 1944. A captured German prisoner was to be
allowed to escape, after fake maps had been planted where he would find them.
He was taken to an interrogation room.

"The RAF intelligence officer in charge of the interrogation excused himself
midway through the interrogation to, as he put it, 'see a man about a dog' "

Probably not relevant to the name of the hamburger, but the Mackinac Straits
Bridge, opened November 1957, was known as "the Big Mac". I heard this
nickname in the late 60's; it may easily date from the 1950's, perhaps even
before the bridge opened.
