Redd Up / Read Up?

How is this Pennsylvania expression pronounced?

I always thought it was to rhyme with "red" because of the spelling, but I
swear I just heard Michaela Majoun (who may be nationally known) say
something about sending in $60 to

"read up your membership"

on WXPN radio.

Is this possible? Or did I just mishear her saying "renew"?
