Fishflies.

These may be the same critters my wife
called "Mormon flies."  One of her stories
was of the time the family car went slipping
and sliding across the Mississippi River bridge
at Keokuk in a gooey mass of them on the
roadway.  The worst part, she said, was lis-
tening to the "pop" they made when they were
crushed.
