>So is a megillah nine yards long?

On the Web, I find a very nice megillah with case for sale (only
$27,000.00!), with a parchment 700 cm long. Only about eight yards, oh well.

In the Bible (Zechariah 5:2) there is the famous flying megillah, twenty
cubits long. By conventional conversion (cubit = 18 inches) that's ten
yards, oh well.

The longest and most complete of the Dead Sea scrolls, the Temple Scroll,
measures 27 feet in length. Bingo!

Another entry in the "whole-nine-yards" list.
