Interesting,  my mom--not unlike Granny of BH--had a
descented?? skunk as a pet when she was a little girl.
Maybe the substitution for the  domestic cat is the
link.  (I don't know about you, but I wouldn't won't a
skunk for a cat for a lot of reasons, most notably on
the occasion of my midnight romps around the
neighborhood calling here kitty, kitty.  Mom claimed it
made the sweetest pet.  Yeh, right.)
