cliche & niche: a testimonial

Growing up in suburban L.I. the only pronunciations I heard as a kid were
the French ones with /i/ and always considered a "click" unrelated to
"clique"; "nitch" still makes me wince, which must say that "click" has
been around longer and I'm become inured of it.

BTW, my wife just read the header and asked if "Cliche & Niche" --both
with /..eesh/ --was a trendy new shoppe... :-)  but then again, she's from
Dayton.
