MONKEY GLAND STEAK

   I previously posted stuff about South Africa's monkey gland sauce.  It's also a steak.  I haven't inspected OED's monkey glands.
   From the NEW YORK HERALD TRIBUNE, "Dining Around Scotland" by Isabel A. McGovern (the pinch hitter when Clementine Paddleford is away--ed.), 20 April 1963, pg. 9, col. 5:

   Don't be startled by monkey gland steak, it's really like a steak Diane.

1.  Jack Paar certainly helped popularize "I kid you not!", but it was introduced in Herman Wouk's best-seller, "The Caine Mutiny."  It was the favorite expression of the famed villain, Captain Queeg.
