Turkmenistan proverbs

This rings a bell: some premier football coach (John Madden,
I believe) said in an interview that one of his best half-time
fire-'em-up lines was "Don't worry that the horse is blind, just
load up the wagon."  He confessed he had no idea what it
meant, but it always worked.

Does anyone know if John Madden is of Turkmeni ancestry ?
