"Nucular" is the pronunciation I grew up with in all
uses, from all sources. I thought "nucular" was the
way the word was spelled, and in my memory I'm certain
I saw it spelled as "nucular" in newspapers and other
sources, but that may be a false memory induced by the
way I was hearing the word. I can't remember exactly
when I became aware that it was "nuclear" both in
spelling and pronunciation. I recall a friend had to
point it out to me. It was, at the earliest, in the
early 60's, in high school, and maybe not until the
late 60's.
