When did the 1914-18 War become "World War I"?

Maybe it was:

Stallings, Laurence, 1894-
The first world war : a photographic history / ed. with captions by
Laurence Stallings.
London : Daily Express, 1933
vii, 307 p. : ill. ; 31 cm

I haven't seen the work but the fact that "first world war" isn't
capitalized, makes me think that it wasn't intended to be a proper name,
World War was around as early as 1914, if not earlier--

Halm, Karl, b. 1879
The world war : Who is to be victorious?
3rd ed., 30 thousand
[S.l. : s.n.], 1914
30 p. ; 20 cm.
