I heard a Pakistani on a radio-call in show refer to Afghanistan and the
phoneme after the /f/ was something unusual-- I couldn't tell what. Does
anyone know what the 'gh' represents in the native language (s)? Before I
heard it I might have guessed it was a voiced velar fricative, but I'm pretty
sure that wasn't it.
