FELL SWOOP/SWELL FOOP

From Clementine Paddleford in the NEW YORK HERALD TRIBUNE, 7 January 1946, pg. 13, col. 6:

"SWELL FOOP"--Joyce Staruch, Mrs. George jr. to be exact, held open house a week ago Sunday so that her returned captain husband could say hello again to his old friends in one "swell foop," to borrow from Gracie Allen.

--------------------------------------------------------MARINA SAUCE

From the NYHT, 5 January 1946, pg. 9, col. 5:

The foundation of this kitchen's cuisine is olive oil, garlic and marina sauce. What's marina sauce? Olive oil and garlic with tomato added, all cooked down together to a thick jelly goodness.

("Marinara sauce was added" appears lower in the same column. A typo?...I'm trying to stay away from newspaper editors and sharp objects today--ed.)
