Would "main squeeze" be the equivalent to "primary" for the most
important of several partners in a non-polyandrous, non-
monogamous situation?  Or "steady"?  I suppose it all depends on
how hip you are?

Boy, it looks as though we need a synonymy paragraph in the next
edition of the Collegiate to get all this straightened out.
