When I started working in my current job, one of the guys I work for
asked me if I came back to the academy because I didn't want to sell out
and take a job with one of those big Comparative Literature firms.  I
guess this is a case of an engineer having fun at the expense of 'real'
academic pursuits.... (if only DARPA gave out million-dollar Humanities
grants....)
