Might someone know what P. L. stands for in the brief baseball
item below my signoff. It appears in the newspaper _San Francisco
Bulletin_, March 12, 1913, p. 18, col. 5-6; article title "Boots and
Bingles." (The term "onion" here means "stupid or obnoxious
fellow;see RHHDAS).

[from S.F. Bulletin:}
March 12, 1913, p.18/5-6; 'Boots And Bingles': 'Charley Dryden, the
Chicago sage, has written Chance a long letter wishing the P. L. joy
of his new venture and suggesting that if he finds a few "onions"
among his phenoms it would be an act of Christian charity to leave
them in Bermuda, where their odor will not be noticed.'
