Movies Popularizing Slang

|o| Of course as much fun as this is, it's been pointed out that
|o| technically what we're slinging around isn't exactly slang,
|o| more a kind of cultural shorthand, I guess.

Now that we've started down this movie quotation path though, I've come to
realize how deeply movie dialog permeates language, influences culture and
binds people together with long slate of shared video idoms--not all of them
spoken.  Quotation for sure, but is there a special name for movie (or
television) dialog that becomes conversational shorthand for an entire
cohort?  What a name for key words in a movie that, when mentioned, can
trigger in others a cascade of video images, attitudes, gestures, and
situations & setting?  Powerful stuff, film.
