Dutch oven

I know we discussed Dutch oven back in October. Last
night on the food channel (Good Eats, Pantry Raid II:
Cool Beans) Alton Brown stated, authoritatively, that
the name comes from the fact that the Dutch had some
special way of making cast iron for the ovens. Any
truth to this? Do we need to start a letter writing
campaign?
