Exploring Language

I've just received an examination copy of Gary Goshgarian's _Exploring
Language_, which seems like a fine collection of essays that could be put
into service in a lower-division general education course, perhaps an
inquiry seminar for first-year students. Does anyone out there have any
experience with this text, either as a stand-alone or a supplement to
others? Any advice or suggestions for use would be welcome.
