One method would be to search databases of historical texts likely to
yield usages of this term.  There is not much in the way of online
linguistic literature, but I searched JSTOR and Questia.  Here is the
earliest I came up with:

1971 Geneva Smitherman in _Negro American Literature Forum_ V. 116  As
these super niggers become more and more immersed in white, middle class
culture, they will eventually become mono-dialectal.
