PAPRIKA--The MOA (Mich., books) has the ENCYCLOPAEDIA AMERICANA, 7th edition, 1851, pg. 476 (under "HUNGARY"):
   ...Turkish pepper (_paprika_), fruits (particularly plums, for the sake of the brandy prepared from them, called _slivovitza)_....

SLIVOVITZ--The MOA (Cornell) has LIVING AGE, 6 September 1845, pg. 486, "a glass of slivovitsa."
