"Flagel" trademark

   A check of U.S. Patent & Trademark Office records (tess.uspto.gov) shows that "flagel" (a flat bagel) was registered by Adam T. Rosner, Rosalyn Heights, NY, February 1999, with first use June 1999.
   The status was updated on 2-25-2002.  It appears that a trademark was allowed.
   I don't know how that bagel store in New City, NY was allowed to use "flagel," but I've seen overseas coffee shops besides Starbucks use "Frappuccino," for example.
