ESP goes back at least to Alexis Carrel's book, /Man the Unknown,/
published in 1935. It's been many years since I read this, but in it he
describes experiments in establishing the existence of ESP which had been
going on, I think, for years at that time. I don't think it was ever spoken
as an acronym, esp, but always as ee-ess-pee.
