"toke the wild hair" -- Query

Sounds like something from a 70s Bong Studies course, although I've not
found  "wild hair" or "wild hare" as a street name for any drug.  Without
original context for hints as to the meaning, one could certainly construct
a meaning for the Cheech & Chong generation, perhaps something along the
lines of Carpe Diem, maybe a Thoreau cadence:

I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately,
To toke the wild hair of life.
