Dear Diary:

My wife and I were standing in line, waiting to be seated in a
delicatessen in the Washington area. A woman approached me and asked,
"Are you on line?"

I responded: "Oh, you must be from New York. In this area we would say
`Are you in line?"

"No," she replied. "I'm from Philadelphia. If I were from New York, I
would just have cut in front of you."
