Merriam-Webster has 1929 for "knackwurst/knockwurst." OED, which is the wurst, has 1939. This stuff is absolutely terrible.

SKETCH AND STATISTICS OF CINCINNATI IN 1851
1851 (Making of America-Michigan Books database)
   Pg. iv:
I had been preparing for publication, a directory, and in the progress of the work, called upon an honest German up Walnut Street, who was extensively engaged in the manufacture of bratwurst, knackwurst, leber wurst, and sour-kraut.

24 June 1906, NEW YORK TIMES, pg. 3:
Edward Guckenheimer, representing the firm of M. Zimmerman & Co., manufacturer of sausages, denied yesterday that the New York product was sent to Philadelphia for sale. A dispatch from the latter city declared that knackwurst, one of the firm's products, was colored with a derivative of coal tar, and that a part of the output, intended solely for consumption in New York, had been sent to Philadelphia by mistake and sold there.
