Merriam-Webster has 1883 and OED has 1884 for "little neck" or "Little Neck" (NY) clams. The BROOKLYN DAILY EAGLE goes back to the early 1840s and I'm expecting some hits when that becomes available in full text. George Thompson should tell us if he finds any clams.
