schwa insertion

Some years ago I was watching a televized question session from the House of
Commons, and one of the ministers, answering a question, called the weed
/mEridZuana/, with an /i/ instead of the schwa Grant seems to suggest.  I
took this as the same sort of RP spelling pronunciation as Cervantes' Don
/kwiksowt/ or Byron's Don /dZu at n/.  But I don't know RP well enough to be
sure of this.
