   The DICTIONARY OF AMERICAN REGIONAL ENGLISH (based in Wisconsin) says that
this "kind of stew" is from MI, WI, and MN.  The first citation is 1938.


   13 November 1920, APPLETON POST-CRESCENT (Appleton, Wisconsin), pg. 5,
col. 3:
   It was decided that a "booyah party" for members and their friends will be
held on Friday, Nov. 26.

   22 June 1922, APPLETON POST-CRESCENT (Appleton, Wisconsin), pg. 6, col. 3:
   Mike Funk as chef, was reported to have prepared a fine booyah.

   9 July 1925. APPLETON POST-CRESCENT, pg. 3, col. 1:
   A fish fry will be the noon meal, and a "booya" supper will be served.

   10 December 1926, APPLETON POST-CRESCENT, pg. 24, col. 1:
   Chicken "Booya" at Forster's Saturday Nite.

   21 July 1927, APPLETON POST-CRESCENT, pg. 2, col. 6:
   Arriving at the lake at about 11:30 a "booya" dinner will be ready for the
outers and an afternoon of fun then is scheduled.

   3 December 1931, APPLETON POST-CRESCENT, pg. 10, col. 6:
   A sale and chicken booya supper will be sponsored by Ladies of Trinity
Lutheran church in the school hall on Broad st. Thursday afternoon and evening.
