Titular question, song, etc.

Does anyone have an opinion on the use of "titular" to refer to something
named in a title, as in the "titular question" of a book whose title is a
question, or the "titular song" of an album? I've always used "title" as
an adjective in this context, reserving "titular" for titles of people,
usually where the reality doesn't match the official role (titular rulers,
for example). I've found a lot of references for "titular question" in
Google, but it doesn't sound right to me.
