   Merriam-Webster's 11th corrected "taco" to 1914.  It has 1887 for
"enchilada."


   2 November 1885, ATLANTA CONSTITUITON, pg.1, col. 8:
   But San Antonio has more than the past to interest Californians.  It is
one of the most active and enterprising of cities.  Business evidently thrives,
and the streets are crowded.  The great squares, of which there are several,
are surrounded By Mexican opeddlers and dealers in tamales, enchiladas, Chile
Con Carve (sic), and other Mexican and Aztec luxuries.
