BAKE SALE

I was asked to try to read this--cut off on two pages.

23 September 1903, TRENTON TIMES (Trenton, NJ), pg.
Special to the Times.
   Langhorne, Sept. 2.--Yesterday was an
occasion of much interest for the tem-
perance people of Langhorne.
A "bake sale" was held during the af-
ternoon by the W. C. T. U. and last eve-
ning Emmett D. Nicholas of Wilkesburro
will deliver an addition on "On Which
Side Are You?"

BARRY 1, TIMES 0

I thought this post was about something else. Go to www.nytimes.com and
search for "Tin Pan Alley."
The NEW YORK TIMES has never run a story on "the Big Apple" and everyone i
s now dead, so "victory" (giving vital information about the city's history
away for free) is impossible.

PROQUEST

It's summer, so I asked about the latest ProQuest additions scheduled for
summer. I guess the two e-mails are private, but here are two responses, in
part. It's almost "taco" time:

PROQUEST HISTORICAL NEWSPAPERS
The Los Angeles Times has been released for the 1922-1881 time period (as of
June 26). So far only California libraries have subscribed; but interest is
pretty strong throughout the county so hopefully, the content will be
accessible to a library near you in the near future. We're adding content from 1923
forward through the rest of the year and through 2004.

The Chicago Tribune manufacturing is well underway. There are issues with
the poor image quality for the early years of the Tribune microfilm so we are
combing the country in search of original hardcopy to re-film and then digitize.
We're hoping to release the pre-1922 years in August/September pending the
success of our hunt for hardcopy.

PROQUEST AMERICAN PERIODICAL SERIES ONLINE
Puck will be the first of the three and will likely be available in late
August. Life and Harper's Bazar are more likely to be available in Fall.
