There is more Jarlsberg cheese eaten outside of Norway than in the country itself (Americans eat a ton of Jarlsberg every hour).
The original Jarlsberg was made att Jarlsberg Manor near Toensberg 1815-1832, but today's cheese was developed at the end if the 1950-s.
TINE dairies make four different types of Jarlsberg in four of their 68 dairies. See
