Is this is an AA-specific use of alky, i.e. not just an alcoholic but a member of AA? If not, I can offer

1934 (context 1920s) James T. Farrell Young Manhood (in Studs Lonigan, 1936) 272: The Alky Squad is here

The context that surrounds the cite makes it clear that the ref. is to a group of regularly drunken young men, teasingly entitled the 'Alky Squad' by the speaker.

Alki/alky as 'alcohol' can be found at least as early in 1897 - in Jack London's The Road.
