Buddhist wisdom

Where has this jock been that he needs a cursory review of Buddhism to encounter that concept?

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference."--Serenity Prayer

"Where there's no alternative, there's no problem."--James Burnham

I can understand his not knowing the Burnham "law", but one would need to be virtually illiterate not to have encountered the Serenity Prayer. And didn't a coach ever say to him "Don't sweat the small stuff" or "Don't fight the problem". By the time I started paying income tax on a regular basis, it seemed that coaches, sergeants, and uncles had been telling me that for half my
life.
