As Tom, noted the problem with the messages in question is encoding.
This is a common problem with mail originating from Microsoft email
clients, particularly Outlook, and can be remedied with a few simple
preference changes.

This page details how to make those changes, not only in Outlook, but
in many email programs. These settings are good to have for all email
sent anywhere, not just to the list.

Jesse and Terry, Listserv I believe permits the rejecting of messages
with certain encodings, which might help alert unsuspecting subscribers
using strange computers to the problematic encoding of their mail
application. Of course, it does depend upon the mail client having
proper headers.
