M-W has 1925, and OED 1931.  In the sense of an actual musician.

1876_Burlington(IA) Hawk-Eye_ July 6.  page 1?  The one-man band, comprising
drums, cymbals, violin, and a squeaking pipe which performed in our Streets
on Monday had one thing to reccommend(sic) it.  You can kill the drummer and
