Mulligan (OED, n.2, 1947)

1941 _L.A. Times_ 9 Feb. A8  As the first tee loomed ahead she said,
"Shall we have a Mulligan?" ... I didn't give a hoot whether we counted
the first ball hit or considered it a provisional "Mulligan." ... On the
second tee we were supposedly warmed up, took no Mulligan.
