"Jinx" etymology

   Greetings from Segou, Mali.  I have no time and a bad keyboard.
   CAPTAIN JINKS is EXTREMELY implausible?  I strongly disagree.  The song was so very popular, and Jinks was The Curse of the Army.  The song repeatedly says so.  Jinks is a bad luck fellow.
   The 1928 Big Apple citation helps somewhat, but things are pretty clear after 1924.  I was surprised that Jonathon Green did not know about that 1927 Winchell citation.
