I assume it is appropriate to be careful about accurate quotes. The 1967 book
attests to the "full nine yards" as well as the "whole nine yards."
"Most Americans enjoyed getting the full nine yards that is included in the
French barber's repertoire." Page 161 in one of the hardbound editions; page
140 in paperback.
Robert L. Mole wrote on nine tribes:
The: Bru (Brou), Tau-oi, Pakoh, Phuong, Katu, Jeh, Cua, Hre (Hrey), and (the)
Cham. He noted in 31 May 1966 that these tribes were "nine in number" and added
that
number to his later title.
Mole (now deceased) wrote other books on Southeast Asian religion and
ethnography.
