   Literature Online no longer works here at NYU, so I can't check up on "croissant."  Factiva works on the Dells; ProQuest works on the Apple Macs.  The screen goes blank at least once per search.  The blue bar stops at least once per search.  I'm going crazy.

   Chairman McCarran (D) Nev., the only Judiciary Subcommittee member present at the hour set for hearing, said the committee hadd not received rcommendations of the California Bar nor "blue slips" from California Senators.
   "Blue slips" are forms supplied by the Judiciary Committee to permit Senators to note their endorsement or objection to nominees.
