"BIG APPLE" ON NYPL

I called the New York Public Library today, as I said I would per our correspondence. I was told the web site was changed. Previously, it had told people that "the Big Apple" comes from whores.
Here it is the changed site:

Why is New York City called the Big Apple?

Alternate explanations from Barry Popik, Peter Salwen, and the Gotham Center for New York City History.

The explanation from "me" is the STRAIGHT DOPE article. (Sam Clements, are you still there?) The Gotham Center explanation is from Gerald Cohen's 1991 book, which didn't have my work. And the whore explanation--an admitted hoax--is still there, sharing the spotlight. It's as if you gave equal time to the holocaust and the holocaust deniers, or equal time to pyramid scientists and Erich von Daniken.
   My plane should have crashed.
